We are situated just 1 hour east from Granada Airport in the province of Spain's Andalucia. An area steeped in ancient history.
We are situated just outside the traditional old farming village of Cuevas Del Campo, meaning Caves of the country. Since the invasion by the Moors' from nearby Africa, many centuries ago, these invaders made homes by excavating the rocky hillsides to make 'caves' that amazingly, are warm in the winter months, and cool in the summer months, and this helps lend the area to the strong Moroccan influences seen to this day. Especially in its churches and other ancient buildings, a tradition still found in new buildings of today.
This area is surrounded by national parks, and the area is home to many wild birds, and is visited by wildlife photographers to study the variety of eagles, and other birds of prey.
The village of Cuevas is situated close to the man-made lake Negratin with it's Dam (Embalse de Negritin) the
lake is 35km long and supplies water as far south as Seville. There are several Bars and Restaurants on its shores, serving local food and tapas.
Try the nearby natural hot water baths, (los Banos De Zucar) ''we use it frequently'' as the water is very rich in minerals and comes to the surface from deep within the ''Mt. Jabalcon'', a once active volcano, today it is possible to drive the 1.500mtr volcano to its summit, not for the faint hearted, but on a clear day the views are something to behold. The town has a man-made beach that is divided into two areas for bathing, normal and a private area for the naturalist...Great with a BBQ and a few beers by the shore.
It's possible to be on the beach basking in sunshine, then just a few hours later to be skiing in the Sierras. These famous Sierra Nevada mountains can be viewed from our house, and in season often quite late into the year, you will find them topped with snow. Just one of the many things to occupy your time here, whether you laze around by our private pool and enjoy a refreshing drink from our well stocked bar, or wish to explore the local villages, and mountain views, the hills and valleys by horseback or on foot, we also have facilities to loan out bicycles to help you explore that little bit more. If you like the peace and tranquility, undiscovered or unspoilt Spain, friendly and welcoming towns people, this is the place for you...
Nestled amongst the olive groves we offer a fully self contained apartment within our country house that can sleep six. It has one air conditioned double bedroom with two more double rooms equipped with double and two single beds and fans for those warm nights, plus a extra facility to sleep additional children if required. The lounge is also air conditioned and has sky television. (For more than basic free-to-air channels we suggest you bring your own veiwing card.) There's also a modern shower room and equipped kitchen. You'll have a private terrace to wind away the warm Spanish evenings with a BBQ and bottle of chilled wine. From here there's a view of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. There's also a larger rear sun terrace with a mature shaded garden area, a swimming pool, with our private bar.
